I’ve got my iPad reserved, to pickup at my closest Apple store (approximately 5 miles absent) on the April 3rd launch day. I’ve been told by an Apple phone sales rep that this can only be done online, not in the physical stores themselves – and that’s how I got it done this morning, via the link mentioned in my earlier post.
There’s a lot of confusion this morning approximately whether reserving an iPad at a local store this way means you are * guaranteed * to get one on April 3rd or not. I’ve seen people on Twitter and forums saying they’ve been told it is not guaranteed.
To my intellect, the wording of the reservation form, and of the emailed confirmation I received, clearly say this is a certain, not a possibly. The only qualifier I see to that is that you must exhibit up at your chosen store by 3 p.m. on April 3rd. So whether your local store is going to be crazy on the day, some camping out / lining up may be required. I can live with that. iPad – come to papa.

Oh, that's what I meant. That's why I mentioned the part approximately lining up probably being required. I plot to be there way early and line up and hope they will process people with reserved units first.

Correction: You need to be IN the store and asking for your iPad by 3 pm. I'm certain that standing external in a enormous "WTF I didn't expect it to be so long" line won't count….
